“Rest seems like a nice contrast to overwhelment, but enthusiasm is always chosen over rest. The only thing that ever makes you tired or bogs you down is resistance”.
So how to stay in the “the moment”. That seems to be the answer to resistance. If I can fully embrace this moment, accepting this little spark of time as being all it needs to be, then the next moment comes with that same acceptance, then I am living with a calmness that comes with the wisdom of now. I have compiled a few moment quotes this morning and would like to share them here.
During this time of year one can become “overwhelmed” by so many outside stressors, but if we can remind ourselves that all we really have is this moment. That seems to be the crucial ingredient to inner peace.
“Guard well your spare moments.
They are like uncut diamonds.
Discard them and their value will never be known.
Improve them and they will become
the brightest gems in a useful life.”

“If you surrender completely to the moments as
they pass, you live more richly those moments.”

“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… not healing, not curing… that is a friend who cares.”
A few things that help me stay in the moment are:
The smell of coffee brewing, it wakes my senses. I love that deep robust aroma that permeates the room.
The Sunrise brought me to the now this morning, as I walked outside it was blazing across the sky.
The moon was also incredibly visable and I was able to snap a photo of it as well.
Bascially standing in one spot (in the moment) I was able to capture the sunrising and the moon still shining. One was in the west and the other in the east. That was truly a moment to be-hold. (be & hold)
The cold brisk air, so fresh and clean smelling, has a crispness that awakens my senses and brings me back to now.
Walking Peaches keeps me present. Praying to God keeps me present. Finding Gratitude keeps me present. Allowing the wisdom that I am in this spot, this place right now, safe and warm, keeps me present.
It’s a moment to moment thing, this life. Firmly planting myself in each activety that I am presented with, not allowing my mind to wander and chatter and do all the small talk. Ignoring the little grumbles, mumbles and jumbles. No “thinking” about past or future will fix anything. Just be present and allow the space of awareness to pause, and with that wisdom will come.
We have been programed by marketing here in the Untied States, that there is a pill to fix every little glitch we can experience. For example the inability to find the now, the words that are used to label this condition is sometimes called ADD and ADHD.
I wonder if that condition could be just that we have lost the ability to control our mind, our thoughts, our dis-ease? If we could re-member how to stop our racing thoughts and just be in the moment. If we could pause, listen to our breathing we might not have to take a pill (imho). I doubt any amount of mental strip mining is going to fix problems in life. For me, I try to re-mind myself that staying in this moment is the best place for me. If I can pause and enjoy quiet moments, the wisdom will come.
